March 19th, 2008Some nice shots of the just-concluded Chinese National People’s Congress are collected here. The NPC plenary meetings are, to a large measure, all about images, but Reuters’ collection for 2008 has some striking shots, not just the usual snaps of delegates dutifully feigning interest in the scripted pronouncements or filing in to the Great Hall of the People wearing traditional garb to indicate mutli-ethnic representation and unity.
One of the photos shows Xi Jinping whom many now expect to be Hu Jintao’s successor in 2012.
