  • We keep hearing these firms are “2 big 2 fail” b/c so many counterparties & scale so big—but seems global diffusion & size = 2 big 2 save! #
  • I’ve always joked that worst case scenario is I’d move back to Alabama & grow vegetables. Starting to wonder if it’s time to order overalls. #
  • Southern friends: Glad ya’ll enjoyed the “bllizzard.” If you want more, come visit. Spokane got 60 inches in Dec., incl. 17″ once in 24 hrs. #

  • Back in Spokane after East Coast trip. #
  • One portfolio bright spot: Sirius up 140%! Bought a couple hundred shares, so I’ve made a whopping $15, ALMOST enough to cover commissions! #
  • China in recent years listed shares of its large state-owned banks & insurance cos on public stock markets. US now owns large parts of ours. #
  • Perhaps we should now talk about “Socialism with American characteristics.” #
  • And the notion that we should disregard ideological labels and just fix problems is Deng Xiaoping’s “white cat, black cat” line, no? #
  • And “feeling the way across the river stone by stone” (mo shi tou guo he) is Paulson’s ad hoc save-this-one-not-that-one approach. #
